What Baptism Is Valid By Mark V. Markov Did you ever wonder When people say You have to be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ And not in the the name of the Father, Son, Holy Spirit Yes, it is true that in proper grammar The name of the Father is not Father And name of Son is not Son And name of Holy Spirit is not Holy Spirit Then what are their names? You might ask Well, God Has many names Yet in this situation The name is Jesus Christ. Since it is a name Cause anybody can be a son And anybody can be a father Yet still to God who knows everything How can we as people think That baptism in the name of Father, Son, Holy Spirit baptism is not valid? I am sure that God who always existed Before of all creation Knows all things And if you were baptized in the name of the Father, Son, Holy Spirit or specifically in the name of Jesus Christ God of all creation knows That you were baptized in His only begotten Son's name. When people baptized you in the name of the Father, Son, Holy Spirit Or specifically in the name of Jesus Christ. God knows all things and all thoughts So rest assured you are fine either way. See Matthew 28:18-20 The Great Commission 18 Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me . 19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” Yet other passages say people were baptized only the name of Jesus Christ See Acts 10:42-48 42 He commanded us to preach to the people and to testify that he is the one whom God appointed as judge of the living and the dead. 43 All the prophets testify about him that everyone who believes in him receives forgiveness of sins through his name.” 44 While Peter was still speaking these words, the Holy Spirit came on all who heard the message. 45 The circumcised believers who had come with Peter were astonished that the gift of the Holy Spirit had been poured out even on the Gentiles . 46 For they heard them speaking in tongues and praising God. Then Peter said, 47 “Can anyone keep these people from being baptized with water? They have received the Holy Spirit just as we have.” 48 So he ordered that they be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ. Then they asked Peter to stay with them for a few days. So yes, both ways are valid. As long as you are of an age Where you can choose good over evil And dedicate your life to God through Jesus Christ. Since God knows all things And if baptism was indicated by saying In the name of Father, Son, Holy Spirit It's same as saying Jesus Christ Since Christ had both Deities present in Him. He had the Father in Him As He told Philip the Father is in me. John 14:8-14 8 Philip said, “Lord, show us the Father and that will be enough for us.” 9 Jesus answered: “Don’t you know me, Philip, even after I have been among you such a long time? Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father. How can you say, ‘Show us the Father’? 10 Don’t you believe that I am in the Father, and that the Father is in me? The words I say to you are not just my own. Rather, it is the Father, living in me, who is doing his work. 11 Believe me when I say that I am in the Father and the Father is in me; or at least believe on the evidence of the miracles themselves. 12 I tell you the truth, anyone who has faith in me will do what I have been doing. He will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father. \ 13 And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Son may bring glory to the Father. 14 You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it. And He had the Holy Spirit As the Holy Spirit descended upon Him In the form of a dove When He walked on this earth. Please note that Cornelius did lots of alms and he was remembered before God. So you too must never stop doing good to others Helping them financially same as Cornelius did and he was the first non Jew whom in the new testament God gave the baptism of the Holy Spirit Yes, Peter was who already had the Holy Spirit Had to be present So there fore when you ask God for baptism of Spirit you need to have someone who already is baptized and you both must pray on your knees for some time until the Holy Spirit of God will touch your spirit and you will speak in tongues glorifying God That is baptism of Spirit And so you will Have Baptism of water in the name of Jesus Christ or in the name of Father, Son, Holy Spirit either way it is valid and you must be born of spirit same as Cornelius was born of spirit in his case it was very fast because he was very close to God with His actions for he believed, feared God and did much good financially to others. Acts 10:2 He and all his family were devout and God-fearing; he gave generously to those in need and prayed to God regularly. So much that he even came in remembrance before God And God had to send peter to him So he would be baptized of spirit and of water In the name of Jesus Christ. Please note that there are some very stupid people out there that would say you cant buy the power of the holy spirit well yes you cant buy it, but that doesn't mean you shouldn’t cease doing good to others in need helping them either financially as Cornelius or physically or in what ever way possible if you are able to and all in Jesus Christ name. Cornelius never bought the gift of the Holy Spirit it was given to him by the grace of God Yes God gave him the gift the baptism of salvation because he helped so many who were in need living on this earth so please don't confuse this with Simon the sorcerer who wanted to buy the gift of passing the power of holy spirit to others he wanted to buy that ability from peter for money the ability to pass it to others he wanted to buy the ability to give holy spirit to others that is why peter told him that his heart was not right before god Acts 8:18-23 18 When Simon saw that the Spirit was given at the laying on of the apostles’ hands, he offered them money 19 and said, “Give me also this ability so that everyone on whom I lay my hands may receive the Holy Spirit.” 20 Peter answered: “May your money perish with you, because you thought you could buy the gift of God with money! 21 You have no part or share in this ministry, because your heart is not right before God. 22 Repent of this wickedness and pray to the Lord. Perhaps he will forgive you for having such a thought in your heart. 23 For I see that you are full of bitterness and captive to sin.” He was bitter and jealous That they had the power to lay hands on people And baptize people with holy spirit So he wanted to buy that power He was jealous Since he called himself great before And now God's disciples came And everybody followed them And they have this special ability To lay hands on people and baptize them with Holy spirit. Acts 8:13 says that Simon was baptized So he was baptized in the name of Jesus And followed Philip everywhere Since Philip was making miracles Yet when peter and john came And started to baptize others with holy spirit baptism By laying their hands on them He saw Peter and john Baptizing others with holy spirit By laying their hands He asked peter and john if he could buy that power So he would also lay his hands on others To baptize them others also He wanted to buy it But it was given by grace to those that believe and love God Perhaps he wanted to make some money on the side By charging others To lay his hands on them He wanted to make a business Out of giving people the baptism of the holy spirit So people would pay him And he would give them The power of god But peter said You cannot do that And that your heart is not right before god And that you cannot be part of this ministry It's same as Benny Hin And other preachers Who charge money For you to be healed They feel that if you pay money Then you are worthy To be prayed for If you did not Then you are not worthy. So if you help others financially that is a good virtue that God notices But you cant expect To buy anything Helping others should be a virtue of the heart You cannot buy a Holy Spirit But you can help others in Jesus Christ name To show God that you have the qualities of love That he is looking for. So help the ones in need Show to God that you have real love As John the baptist said Show real works before you get baptized And then ask to receive the Holy Spirit from God The only thing we have is money So we must help others in need Especially with basic needs Roof over the head Three meals a day Restroom Shower room Basic needs must be met For all in need Samaritan helped a Jew When other Jews passed him by He had compassion On the one who was in need Not because the person in need was a Samaritan For he was a Jew indeed But because this Jew Was laying on the street Naked ,bruised Laying there dying And other Jew passed him by This Samaritan had compassion on him Because this Jew was in need That was the reason why. 2nd commandment is love the one in need, Because that is what Christ clarified With the Samaritan story When they asked him who is my neighbor Since it says love your neighbor as yourself He clarified it for them That the neighbor is the one in need And also Christ himself fed people physically With loves and fishes Because he had compassion on them They were just regular people That came to listen to Him. He didn't say “Well I fed you spiritually with my sermons now go and leave without physical food.” No He said “They need physical food also” And he fed them. If he did that. Then how much more should we be doing that Everyday of our lives. We must feed them spiritually And we must feed them physically So as He did We must also do See Acts 8:13 13 Simon himself believed and was baptized. And he followed Philip everywhere, astonished by the great signs and miracles he saw. So if you are born of Spirit You still must live a faithful life to God With much works of good to others And you must possess the qualities of love And not be envious and bitter That is why Peter told Him Your heart is not right before God Because you are jealous and bitter towards us It also seems that perhaps he thought That if he buys the power then he can sell it It also seems hard to say if he was baptized with Holy Spirit Since it says After he was baptized in Jesus name by Philip Which means he had water baptism. And he was observing Philip Then he was observing Peter and John And when he noticed that ability of laying hands He asked to buy it. It doesn’t say he experienced Peter and John's baptism Baptism of spirit So that means that he might not yet received the Holy Spirit. Acts 8:9-23 Simon the Sorcerer 9 Now for some time a man named Simon had practiced sorcery in the city and amazed all the people of Samaria. He boasted that he was someone great, 10 and all the people, both high and low, gave him their attention and exclaimed, “This man is the divine power known as the Great Power.” 11 They followed him because he had amazed them for a long time with his magic. 12 But when they believed Philip as he preached the good news of the kingdom of God and the name of Jesus Christ, they were baptized, both men and women. 13 Simon himself believed and was baptized. And he followed Philip everywhere, astonished by the great signs and miracles he saw. 14 When the apostles in Jerusalem heard that Samaria had accepted the word of God, they sent Peter and John to them. 15 When they arrived, they prayed for them that they might receive the Holy Spirit, 16 because the Holy Spirit had not yet come upon any of them; they had simply been baptized into the name of the Lord Jesus. 17 Then Peter and John placed their hands on them, and they received the Holy Spirit. 18 When Simon saw that the Spirit was given at the laying on of the apostles’ hands, he offered them money 19 and said, “Give me also this ability so that everyone on whom I lay my hands may receive the Holy Spirit.” 20 Peter answered: “May your money perish with you, because you thought you could buy the gift of God with money! 21 You have no part or share in this ministry, because your heart is not right before God. 22 Repent of this wickedness and pray to the Lord. Perhaps he will forgive you for having such a thought in your heart. 23 For I see that you are full of bitterness and captive to sin.” See Acts 10:1-48 Acts 10 Cornelius Calls for Peter 1 At Caesarea there was a man named Cornelius, a centurion in what was known as the Italian Regiment. 2 He and all his family were devout and God-fearing; he gave generously to those in need and prayed to God regularly. 3 One day at about three in the afternoon he had a vision. He distinctly saw an angel of God, who came to him and said, “Cornelius!” 4 Cornelius stared at him in fear. “What is it, Lord?” he asked. The angel answered, “Your prayers and gifts to the poor have come up as a memorial offering before God. 5 Now send men to Joppa to bring back a man named Simon who is called Peter. 6 He is staying with Simon the tanner, whose house is by the sea.” 7 When the angel who spoke to him had gone, Cornelius called two of his servants and a devout soldier who was one of his attendants. 8 He told them everything that had happened and sent them to Joppa. Peter’s Vision 9 About noon the following day as they were on their journey and approaching the city, Peter went up on the roof to pray. 10 He became hungry and wanted something to eat, and while the meal was being prepared, he fell into a trance. 11 He saw heaven opened and something like a large sheet being let down to earth by its four corners. 12 It contained all kinds of four-footed animals, as well as reptiles of the earth and birds of the air. 13 Then a voice told him, “Get up, Peter. Kill and eat.” 14 “Surely not, Lord!” Peter replied. “I have never eaten anything impure or unclean.” 15 The voice spoke to him a second time, “Do not call anything impure that God has made clean.” 16 This happened three times, and immediately the sheet was taken back to heaven. 17 While Peter was wondering about the meaning of the vision, the men sent by Cornelius found out where Simon’s house was and stopped at the gate. 18 They called out, asking if Simon who was known as Peter was staying there. 19 While Peter was still thinking about the vision, the Spirit said to him, “Simon, three men are looking for you. 20 So get up and go downstairs. Do not hesitate to go with them, for I have sent them.” 21 Peter went down and said to the men, “I’m the one you’re looking for. Why have you come?” 22 The men replied, “We have come from Cornelius the centurion. He is a righteous and God-fearing man, who is respected by all the Jewish people. A holy angel told him to have you come to his house so that he could hear what you have to say.” 23 Then Peter invited the men into the house to be his guests. Peter at Cornelius’s House The next day Peter started out with them, and some of the brothers from Joppa went along. 24 The following day he arrived in Caesarea. Cornelius was expecting them and had called together his relatives and close friends. 25 As Peter entered the house, Cornelius met him and fell at his feet in reverence. 26 But Peter made him get up. “Stand up,” he said, “I am only a man myself.” 27 Talking with him, Peter went inside and found a large gathering of people. 28 He said to them: “You are well aware that it is against our law for a Jew to associate with a Gentile or visit him. But God has shown me that I should not call any man impure or unclean. 29 So when I was sent for, I came without raising any objection. May I ask why you sent for me?” 30 Cornelius answered: “Four days ago I was in my house praying at this hour, at three in the afternoon. Suddenly a man in shining clothes stood before me 31 and said, ‘Cornelius, God has heard your prayer and remembered your gifts to the poor. 32 Send to Joppa for Simon who is called Peter. He is a guest in the home of Simon the tanner, who lives by the sea.’ 33 So I sent for you immediately, and it was good of you to come. Now we are all here in the presence of God to listen to everything the Lord has commanded you to tell us.” 34 Then Peter began to speak: “I now realize how true it is that God does not show favoritism 35 but accepts men from every nation who fear him and do what is right. 36 You know the message God sent to the people of Israel, telling the good news of peace through Jesus Christ, who is Lord of all. 37 You know what has happened throughout Judea, beginning in Galilee after the baptism that John preached— 38 how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and power, and how he went around doing good and healing all who were under the power of the devil, because God was with him. 39 “We are witnesses of everything he did in the country of the Jews and in Jerusalem. They killed him by hanging him on a tree, 40 but God raised him from the dead on the third day and caused him to be seen. 41 He was not seen by all the people, but by witnesses whom God had already chosen—by us who ate and drank with him after he rose from the dead. 42 He commanded us to preach to the people and to testify that he is the one whom God appointed as judge of the living and the dead. 43 All the prophets testify about him that everyone who believes in him receives forgiveness of sins through his name.” 44 While Peter was still speaking these words, the Holy Spirit came on all who heard the message. 45 The circumcised believers who had come with Peter were astonished that the gift of the Holy Spirit had been poured out even on the Gentiles. So yes verse 48 says in the name of Jesus Christ Please remember that Father and Holy Spirit were in Christ That is the reason why he said “Go and baptize in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit” Both baptisms are valid Since Christ understands what He said, More then most of us can. So if you say “In the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit” to Him it means Jesus Christ Since He was the One who said it in the first place. Don't think that God is stupid by thinking and speaking Don't think that you must be baptized only in the name of Jesus Christ Seriously who is stupid here God or you I think you might have the right answer to this question.. You see, God understands that Father, Son, Holy Spirit means Jesus Christ. Now do you understand that? Don't go grieving the Holy Spirit thinking that all people who were baptized in Father, Son, Holy Spirit Must be re baptized only in the name of Jesus Christ yet if there is some kind of guilt then sure go right ahead and get re baptized otherwise please understand scripture And please don't blaspheme the Holy Spirit By thinking that Father, Son, Holy Spirit baptism is demonic Since Holy Spirit is also included there. Cause you yourselves might become blasphemers of the Holy Spirit instead of believers. For Holy spirit is a Holy Spirit.
